This Texas drama earned two Oscars and features Timothy Bottoms and Jeff Bridges with excellent vintage bottles of Pearl and a partially obscured Lone Star. Too bad we couldn’t get Best Supporting Actor & Actress Ben Johnson & Cloris Leachman or the lovely Cybill Shepherd in frame with a brew.

There’s a terrific Texas trio of vintage neon signs in this John Travolta story of a music teacher at a school for wayward boys. Glowing, state shaped Jax and Pearl lights are phenomenal and the Lone Star’s not too bad either.

Robert DeNiro & Charles Grodin are on the run from the mob, bounty hunters and the FBI in this action comedy. We get a great Lone Star neon and plenty of other signage including Budweiser, Schlitz and Old Style. There’s also an oversized Foster’s bottle behind the bar.

The late, great Paul Newman stars as the title character in this Texas drama. The vintage Pearl flat top cans are outstanding and note the background Lone Star cases. We also get good looks at Coors cans and bottles and a Miller High Life sign.

There’s a nice mix of brew including a Bud bow tie noen, a bright green Mickey’s sign and a great Lone Star six pack. We also spot Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Tom Savini and Danny Trejo with the fake brand Cerveza Chango.

Meryl Streep and Cher were both nominated for Oscars in this story of Karen Silkwood who was possibly murdered for exposing safety violations at a plutonium processing plant. Kurt Russell and Craig T. Nelson also appear. Cans of Coors, Budweiser and Lone Star are all clearly spotted.

John Travolta plays a hayseed who learns about city life in Houston with the help of love interest Debra Winger. The Lone Star placement is heavy and we also get good bar signage with Schlitz, Miller Lite & High Life and Coors to name a few. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Gilley’s.

Chuck Norris kicks ass and takes names against drug kingin David Carradine who unfortunately doesn’t appear in frame with a brew. However, we DO get plenty of cans of Texas beers Pearl and Lone Star. There’s also good Coors, Schlitz and Bud signage to go with a nice Pearl light.

Dolly Parton has the Herculean task of turning cab driver Sylvester Stallone into a country singer. Good luck with that. Anyhoo, there’s heavy Anheuser-Busch presence with lots of great neon, bottles and cans including Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob and Busch. We also get some Lone Star action.

Sean Penn, and his Colt 45 t-shirt, gives a memorable performance as ‘Spicoli’ in this classic 80’s teen comedy. He also drains a Hamm’s in Jefferson’s car and pulls bongs in his bedroom with background Lone Star bottles. Thankfully for Judge Reinhold there wasn’t a beer in frame during his ‘Phoebe Cates’ fantasy scene.

There’s only one sighting here but it’s outstanding. The big, bold, beautiful Lone Star billboard is truly epic. ‘Beers on Film’ legend Goldie Hawn usually delivers with a beer sighting but she leaves us as high and dry as the Texas sun in this drama.
